SAPPC Conflict Early Warning and Early Response Network
SAPPC CEWS is a key component of SAPPCs Regional conflict prevention mechanism which is focused on enhancing human security by monitoring and reporting social, economic, political situations that can potentially lead to violent conflicts. SAPPC CEWS informs policy makers and relevant stakeholders on conflict threats and provides Early Response options. SAPPC CEWS also enables national and regional data driven strategic planning and programming. The main objective of SAPPC CEWS is to anticipate and prevent conflict in the region and to provide timely information on evolving violent conflicts using specific indicators.
SAPPC National Early Warning System networks (SAPPC NEWS)
SAPPC is establishing National Early Warning System networks (SAPPC NEWS) across the SADC Region. These national networks collect data at local level which support the Regional and Continental Early Warning Systems guided by relevant protocols in line with Conflict Prevention, Resolution, Management, Peace Building/Keeping and Security in the region and directly feed into the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) of the African Union through the Africa Reporter Toll.
African Union - Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) - Africa Reporter Tool
In partnership with the African Union (AU) SAPPC coordinates the AU`s Southern Africa Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) Africa Reporter in the 16 ASDC Countries. The Conflict Early Warning System is one of the five pillars of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA). SAPPC through its National Early Warning System collects and directly feeds data into the African Unions Continental Early Warning System, through the Africa Reporter Tool. In addition. SAPPC compiles analysis reports on emerging threats and response options in all the 16 Southern African Member States.
